The University of Baghdad has achieved a significant milestone in the 2025 Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, published by Times Higher Education in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows. This ranking, which is being introduced for the first time in its 2025 edition, is the first of its kind to assess contributions of the universities and commitment to interdisciplinary sciences.<\/p>\n
The ranking includes (749) universities from (92) countries, with the University of Baghdad securing the 161st position globally, leading Iraqi universities in this prestigious ranking. Among the (12) Iraqi universities that appeared in the ranking, the University of Baghdad placed first locally, reflecting its academic and research leadership.<\/p>\n
The Iraqi universities in the ranking are as follows: the University of Baghdad in 161st place; the University of the Future, the University of Babylon, and the University of Technology in the 301-350 range; the University of Anbar in the 401-500 range; the University of Al-Nahrain in the 501-600 range; and the Universities of Al-Farahidi, Al-Furat Al-Awsat, Tikrit, Diyala, and Wasit in the +601 range.<\/p>\n
Universities were evaluated based on three main criteria: inputs (19%), which include funding for interdisciplinary research and industry funding; processes (16%), which include success metrics, facilities, administrative support, and promotion mechanisms; and outputs (65%), which include the number of publications, research quality, reputation, and interdisciplinary impact.<\/p>\n
This achievement reflects the level of support the University of Baghdad provides for interdisciplinary scientific research and underscores its standing among leading global universities. The University\u2019s rank of 161st globally serves as an incentive to further develop research initiatives that integrate multiple disciplines.<\/p>\n
