{"id":49500,"date":"2024-10-24T10:07:53","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T07:07:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=49500"},"modified":"2024-10-24T10:11:26","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T07:11:26","slug":"al-khwarizmi-college-of-engineering-secures-patent-for-advanced-hybrid-method-for-treating-polluted-water-discharged-from-oil-refineries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=49500","title":{"rendered":"Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering Secures Patent for Advanced Hybrid Method for Treating Polluted Water Discharged from Oil Refineries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Professor Ali Hussein Abbar from the Department of Biochemical Engineering at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, has been granted a patent for an invention titled &#8220;An Advanced Hybrid Method for Treating Contaminated Water Discharged from Oil Refineries Using Anodic Oxidation and Photocatalytic Preparation with High Efficiency and Low Economic Cost.&#8221; He collaborated with Professors Khalid Ajami Sukkar and Hisham Muhammad Majid, in partnership with the Oil Research and Development Center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This achievement is the result of productive efforts stemming from a joint doctoral thesis, which has led to the publication of five international research papers in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus and Clarivate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The patent addresses the design of a new high-efficiency system for treating liquid waste from oil refineries, utilizing advanced anodic oxidation combined with tin oxide photocatalysis. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of this method in eliminating all complex organic pollutants, enabling the recovery of water suitable for reuse in refineries, thus providing significant
