Swedish Ambassador Shows Great Admiration of Our University<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>After the university<\/span> becomes the focus of attention of<\/span> senior scientists<\/span>, intellectuals , leaders<\/span> and global<\/span> educational institutions, and having expanded<\/span> and graduated <\/span>a huge number of<\/span> graduates<\/span>, competencies<\/span> and inimitable personalities<\/span> in the society,<\/span> the university<\/span> earned a special place<\/span> among Iraqi and<\/span> Arab universities<\/span>, even<\/span> the international  universities <\/span>, so a lot of  showed much<\/span> interest in<\/span> communicating with<\/span> our university<\/span> and<\/span> develop the relations<\/span> and exchange the <\/span>scientific and cultural experiences .<\/span>In this regard Prof. Dr.<\/span> <\/span>Alaa’<\/span> <\/span>Abdul hussein<\/span> <\/span>president of the University<\/span> <\/span>of Baghdad<\/span> received<\/span> Ambassador of the Kingdom<\/span> <\/span>of Sweden<\/span> <\/span>Mr.<\/span> <\/span>Jorgen Lindstorm<\/span> <\/span>to develop<\/span> <\/span>the scientific and cultural relations<\/span>. <\/span>Assistant Professor<\/span> <\/span>Alaa’<\/span> <\/span>Kareem<\/span> ,<\/span> the scientific Assistant<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>Assistant Professor<\/span> <\/span>Sabah <\/span> <\/span>Al-Azzawi,<\/span> <\/span>director<\/span> <\/span>of cultural relations<\/span> <\/span>and instructor<\/span> <\/span>AbdulKareem<\/span> <\/span>Mounir<\/span> <\/span>Director of Office of<\/span> <\/span>President of the University<\/span> <\/span>and <\/span><\/span><\/span>the <\/span>editor of the<\/span> <\/span>website<\/span>, all attended the meeting , where the <\/span>President of the University<\/span> welcomed<\/span> the Ambassador<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>the accompanying delegation,<\/span> <\/span>noting that<\/span> <\/span>the university<\/span> <\/span>is seeking to develop<\/span> <\/span>relations<\/span> <\/span>with Sweden in the<\/span> <\/span>scientific and cultural fields<\/span>, as <\/span>it hopes to <\/span> <\/span>communicate with<\/span> <\/span>all<\/span> <\/span>Swedish universities<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>universities of the world<\/span>, in return <\/span>the Swedish ambassador<\/span> <\/span>expressed his happiness<\/span> <\/span>to visit the<\/span> <\/span>University of Baghdad<\/span> <\/span>and his desire to<\/span> <\/span>develop relations<\/span> <\/span>between<\/span> <\/span>the University of Baghdad<\/span> and the Swedish <\/span>universities.<\/p>\n

   Mr. Alaa<\/span>‘<\/span> <\/span>Abdulhussein<\/span> <\/span>explained<\/span> <\/span>to the Ambassador<\/span> that the  <\/span>University<\/span> is serious  <\/span>in<\/span> <\/span>cooperating and increasing<\/span> <\/span>the cultural and scientific<\/span> <\/span>ties<\/span> <\/span>between<\/span> the  <\/span>Swedish universities<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>our university,<\/span> <\/span>our university<\/span> can accomplish  <\/span><\/span>scientific<\/span> <\/span>and cultural gains<\/span> <\/span>through communication<\/span> <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>intellectual<\/span> <\/span>blending <\/span>between<\/span> <\/span>Swedish universities<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>our university<\/span>, especially in the <\/span>rare scientific disciplines<\/span> <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>recently  developed<\/span>, which the  <\/span>researcher ,<\/span> <\/span>professor<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>the student<\/span> <\/span>in<\/span> <\/span>our<\/span> <\/span>university<\/span> needed. The fact <\/span>that<\/span> <\/span>our<\/span> <\/span>university<\/span> <\/span>did not stop<\/span> <\/span>at a certain point<\/span> <\/span>in quest<\/span>ing <\/span>to<\/span> <\/span>cope with<\/span> <\/span>science <\/span>or <\/span>twin<\/span> <\/span>with<\/span> <\/span>major<\/span> <\/span>international<\/span> <\/span>universities<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

   The university <\/span>has developed<\/span> <\/span>its potential<\/span> <\/span>with<\/span> <\/span>rare scientific disciplines<\/span> and continues to <\/span>establish<\/span> <\/span>and plan <\/span>for<\/span> the development of<\/span> <\/span>new scientific<\/span> <\/span>sections of<\/span> <\/span>modern and<\/span> <\/span>rare disciplines.<\/span> <\/span>We seek that <\/span>through <\/span>workshops<\/span> <\/span>between<\/span> <\/span>our university<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>Swedish universities<\/span> <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>fellowships<\/span>, or<\/span><\/span> scholarship<\/span>s <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>scientific conferences<\/span> <\/span>and other<\/span> <\/span>scientific and cultural activities<\/span> that  <\/span>fulfilling<\/span> <\/span>cognitive and academic gain<\/span> <\/span>for our students<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>our teachers<\/span> <\/span>at the university,<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>at both practical and theoretical sides<\/span>, as <\/span>we seek to<\/span> <\/span>put<\/span> <\/span>real<\/span> <\/span>effective touches<\/span> <\/span>towards<\/span> <\/span>this potential<\/span> <\/span>executable trend<\/span>, through serious <\/span>mechanisms<\/span> <\/span>that<\/span> <\/span>we wish<\/span>  including <\/span>in the field of<\/span> <\/span>exchange of<\/span> <\/span>experiences<\/span> <\/span>of professors<\/span> <\/span>between<\/span> <\/span>our university<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>your discreet universities <\/span>, <\/span>explaining that<\/span> the university <\/span>has several<\/span> <\/span>memorandums of understanding<\/span> <\/span>with<\/span> <\/span>major<\/span> <\/span>international<\/span> <\/span>universities<\/span> <\/span>and educational institutions,<\/span> <\/span>Which resulted in the establishment of<\/span> many<\/span> training centers<\/span><\/span> <\/span>in our university <\/span>or<\/span> fellowship<\/span>, or scholarships<\/span> or areas of<\/span> publishing<\/span> scientific research<\/span>es in  discreet<\/span> scientific and referred journals. The university .President <\/span>also explained some of the obstacles<\/span> faced by the<\/span> Iraqi researcher<\/span> in some countries like <\/span>the difficulty of<\/span> obtaining<\/span> a visa<\/span> or residence<\/span> or universities admission hoping to<\/span> help our<\/span> students<\/span> and researchers<\/span> in order to achieve<\/span> scientific<\/span> interest<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>The university president<\/span> stated that the Ministry of<\/span> Higher Education put programs<\/span> for research and development<\/span>, by sending a<\/span> large number of<\/span> graduates<\/span> to complete<\/span> postgraduate studies in<\/span> European or American<\/span> or Canadian universities<\/span>, as well as there are<\/span> missions<\/span> for our students<\/span> and<\/span> their supervisors<\/span> to conduct<\/span> research<\/span> field visits to complete the<\/span> requirements of<\/span> the study of<\/span> master’s or<\/span> doctoral<\/span> and this can be achieved<\/span> with<\/span> Swedish universities<\/span> if effective mechanisms are provided like <\/span> the reception<\/span> of students<\/span> and supervisors,<\/span> and grant  them the<\/span> universities<\/span> admission  to complete<\/span> the requirements of<\/span> scientific research<\/span>es , as well as is the case<\/span> with our <\/span> professors being scientifically  <\/span>devoted  <\/span>in<\/span> your discreet<\/span> universities .The university president<\/span> referred to the<\/span> freedom of<\/span> students <\/span> in selecting his  University<\/span> within<\/span> his academic specialization<\/span>, and<\/span> his choice of<\/span> language<\/span> that<\/span> has a great role<\/span> for<\/span> choosing the universities<\/span>, which requires providing <\/span> more<\/span> facilities<\/span> for<\/span> the<\/span> students<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/div>\n

  Swedish Ambassador expressed<\/span> his pleasure<\/span> of being<\/span> in Iraq and his<\/span> delight<\/span> of<\/span> visiting<\/span> Baghdad<\/span> University<\/span>, expressing his great<\/span> admiration of<\/span> the university<\/span> and<\/span> its scientific developed facilities<\/span> indicating the desire<\/span> of<\/span> Sweden<\/span> in consolidating the <\/span>cultural relations<\/span> and strive to be expanded<\/span> to serve the<\/span> interests<\/span> of the two countries<\/span>. The Embassy<\/span> of Sweden in<\/span> Iraq<\/span>is is one of the large Swedish embassies<\/span>. He hopes to<\/span> achieve<\/span> a large<\/span> and wide<\/span> development<\/span> and relations<\/span>, and hopes that a lot<\/span> of Swedes<\/span> find in Iraq<\/span> a study and<\/span> education,<\/span> especially since<\/span> a lot of Iraqis<\/span> living in Sweden<\/span> and that<\/span> many of them are<\/span> completing their <\/span>study <\/span>in Iraq. We seek to<\/span> develop relations<\/span> seriously<\/span> by <\/span>providing opportunities<\/span> for<\/span> study<\/span> and<\/span> Swedish<\/span> fellowships<\/span> in<\/span> our<\/span> university<\/span>. As well as  we want<\/span> to offer<\/span> everything we can<\/span> of the services<\/span> for  the<\/span> Iraqi envoys<\/span>, and try to find<\/span> the most appropriate<\/span> ways<\/span> to provide<\/span> visas for<\/span> Iraqis, and<\/span> the most suitable<\/span> solutions in providing<\/span> accommodation<\/span> for Iraqi students<\/span>, as we enjoy many<\/span> discrete universities<\/span> .<\/span>We have many programs for<\/span> the development<\/span> and  we offer students<\/span> programs in<\/span> language learning,<\/span> as well as we have more superior<\/span> and advanced<\/span> scientific disciplines<\/span> the<\/span> fields of engineering<\/span>, medicine and other<\/span> prestigious disciplines .<\/span>Then the ambassador presented<\/span> a symbolic gift<\/span> to<\/span> the University of Baghdad<\/span>, which is  <\/span>a folder<\/span> of a scientific Encyclopedia<\/span> about<\/span> scientific phenomena in Sweden<\/span>, which is a symbol of<\/span> friendship<\/span> and<\/span> cultural cooperation<\/span>. In return, Prof.<\/span> Dr. Alaa’ Abdulhussain<\/span>, President of the University<\/span> submited<\/span> a gift to<\/span> the Ambassador of<\/span> Sweden<\/span>, which is a shield<\/span> of the university<\/span> as a symbol of<\/span> cooperation and<\/span> good<\/span> mutual relations<\/span>. The Ambassador has asked<\/span> to<\/span> make a tour in the<\/span> University<\/span> of Baghdad<\/span> and the president of the university welcomed this<\/span> tour<\/span> providing all<\/span> the<\/span> possibilities<\/span> for the establishment of<\/span> the<\/span> tour<\/span> and<\/span> under<\/span> the<\/span> supervision<\/span> of<\/span> Dr.<\/span> Alaa<\/span>‘ Kareem<\/span>, the Scientific<\/span> Assistant<\/span>.<\/span><\/div>\n

   The Swedish Ambassador had a tour in the corridors ,courtyards and gardens of the university , accompanied by Dr. Alaa’ Kareem ,Dr. Sabah al-Azzawi and editor of the website , he visited the Central Library and met  the Secretary of the library, inquiring  about the nature of the services provided by the central library for students and researchers , as well as he viewed some archival pictures for landmarks of  <\/span>Iraq and Baghdad  . After that the Ambassador visited the college  of Engineering and toured the passages  and met <\/span>the <\/span>first professor in Iraq Prof. Dr. Abbas Salimon, then met Dean of college  of Engineering and some professors , who welcomed  the Ambassador and expressed his happiness of being hosted by the   Departments and scientific facilities, then the Ambassador visited College of Political Science and met the Dean of the College ,who  gave a brief introduction about the college and its scientific disciplines and some of the scientific activities ,he also presented a collection of books and scientific journals as a gift to the Ambassador. Then the Ambassador had a tour in the corridors of the college of Political Science and viewed the gardens and artificial lakes and squares, and expressed his admiration of the aesthetics landscapes of the university. Later the ambassador met one of the students of our university who speaks Swedish, expressing his satisfaction with the student and the ambition and desire he has for education. The Ambassador also visited Institute of genetic Engineering and  met the Dean and some professors of the Institute , explaining some details and information about the history of the Institute and its e scientific disciplines .The Dean presented a shield of the Institute as a  gift to the ambassador thanking his visit .Finally  the ambassador thanked  and  <\/span>expressed his deep appreciation to Prof. Dr. Alaa’  <\/span>Abdulhussein ,the University President and Professor Alaa’ Kareem ,the Scientific Assistant and who accompanied him in  <\/span>his tour of the university, expressing his delight of this tour  which he described as being wonderful  , hoping to communicate with the university and its scientific and cultural activities .The  <\/span>editor of the website has conducted a brief dialogue with Swedish ambassador about his impressions of the University of Baghdad during his tour , he described the university  as one of the beautiful and luxurious universities and we seek  <\/span>to develop the scientific cultural relations , we will keep working with the university to make  cultural and scientific bonds of cooperation .
