Prof. Dr. Ali Jabbar Rishek and Prof. Dr. Ghazi Meneim Aziz and Prof. Dr. Khalid Jaber Kazim, faculty members from the department of biological technologies at the college of science have obtained a patent entitled &#8220;Medical applications of free and restricted lovastatin that is produced from the local isolation of Aspergillus terreus A50&#8221; after fulfillment of all the scientific and comprehensive requirements for getting a patent by the Central Organization For Standardization And Control Quality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The researchers used nanoparticles of silver as pathogenic antimicrobials for the sake of resisting many antibiotics, and to study the effect of lovastatin on cancer cells, as well as on the level of fat and liver function in rabbits, while ensuring the optimal conditions for its production and the use of solid state fermentation. They succeeded in the production of two concentrations of (279 \u03bcg\/g) of the base material, after restricting lovastatin with silver nanoparticles and testing the adequacy of restricted lovastatin to inhibit some pathogenic microbes and resistance to many antibiotics compared with free lovastatin, as well as noticing an increased effectiveness of inhibition of lovastatin that is restricted by nanoparticles of silver.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assist.
