The Department of Home Economics, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College \u00a0of Education for Women, hosted a lecture entitled “Cyber bullying and its implications for children” presented by Prof. Dr. Intisar Kamal al-Ani via the Google Meet service.<\/p>\n

The lecture aimed to highlight the phenomenon of electronic bullying that has become present with us at all times and places, especially with the tremendous development of technology and social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other apps), and its rapid spread in Arab and Western societies among children and adolescents in an increased rate, especially with the emergence of various applications continuously and very quickly, so that the abuse of children and adolescents over the Internet became easy, as the majority of children carry smartphones containing all modern applications that enable them to receive and send messages. The lecture made a number of recommendations to teach children the social skills to successfully interact with the world and to help children who have been victims of this type of bullying by researching and disseminating coping skills and giving confidence to children at home so that they can inform their parents of the bullying they are exposed to.<\/p>\n
