Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has received in his office the Australian ambassador to Iraq, Ms Paula Ganly. During his speech, the rector discussed the challenges faced by higher education during the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic across the world and the procedures undertaken for the transmission to virtual education via online platforms in order to continue delivering lectures and examining our students in commitment to the directives of the ministry of higher education and scientific research, also asserting the success of this experiment in Iraq.<\/p>\n

Then Dr. Munir al-Saadi gave an overview of the University of Baghdad to the guest, shedding light on its history and vision, as well as the number of faculties, institutes, service and research centers and the university’s significant role in supporting the progress of education in the country. The ambassador, Ms Ganley stated that her country intends to open up to international universities, including the University of Baghdad in light of the fact that scholarship in Australia depends heavily on foreign students. At the end of this meeting, the two sides discussed many matters, including the possibility of concluding memorandums of cooperation in various fields, including the twinning program with Swinburne University for the students of engineering to get a bachelor’s degree, a proposal to exchange online studies between Australian and Iraqi universities, the possibility of supporting research centers at the University of Baghdad by the Australian side , as well as the intention to create a corner for Australian universities within the Central Library, similar to that of the American University, towards future initiatives for the development of an Australian-Iraqi University.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=”5″ images=”28910,28911,28912,28913,28909,28907,28906,28904,28903,28900,28901,28908″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
