College of physical education for women starts testing female applicants for the new academic year<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

College of physical education and sports sciences for women at University of Baghdad started testing more than 50 female applicants for the new academic year (2018-2017) under supervision of dean of the college Prof. Dr. Suhad Qassim Saeed and her Associate for student affairs Prof. Nada Abdul Salam Sabri as well as the participation (18) instructors from various departments. The applicants were subject to thirteen tests (running speed for 3 meters, elegance, flexibility, basketball, volleyball, handball and football in addition to health tests to ensure free of physical impairments or diseases that would negatively affect their performance. It is worth mentioned that such tests are prescribed according to the college curriculum for completion of study requirements.<\/p>\n

During his tour, the rector Dr. All Abdul Hussein kept abreast of the work comprehensively as well as he praised the dynamics and vitality of the efforts exerted by its members related to graduate and postgraduate exams. At the conclusion of this visit, the rector thanked the deanship for their sincere efforts in this regard.<\/div>\n

President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool inaugurated the educational rehabilitation and Arabic language course sponsored by center for development and continuing education. The course was attended by a number of college professors from inside and outside of the university where the Rector emphasized in his opening speech the importance of investing modern methods in delivering advanced lectures with means of illustration for our students by adopting electronic software. It is worth mentioned that this course included specialized and pedagogical lectures on teaching methods and safety of the Arabic language as the main requirements for fulfillment of teaching so that to equip staff with the necessary expertise to complete their careers.<\/div>\n

President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool participated in a celebration held and organized by University of Fallujah under the title (loyalty meeting). The event comes on the occasion of the university’s return to its original location in the city of Fallujah after being in its alternative site at Abu Ghraib. In his speech, the president of University of Baghdad confirmed his eagerness to continue his support to the University of Fallujah after having been hosted in the building of the college of veterinary medicine for many years in Baghdad as an effort made to keep the scientific process in all Iraqi educational institutions for the sake of graduation of new academic competencies and for challenging all terrorist endeavors that wanted to stop the scientific wheel in Iraq. For his part, president of University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Mohammed al-Hamdani praised the academic support of University of Baghdad in this critical time.<\/div>\n

University of Baghdad harvests many awards on the Science Day<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

University of Baghdad has harvested many scientific awards during the annual celebration of the Iraqi Science Day held under the banner “With science and scientists we defeat terrorism” sponsored by the department of research and development of the ministry of higher education and scientific research and attended by the minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq Al-Issa and director general of department of research and development and a great academic gathering. This event comes within the ministry’s quest to adopt scientific and academic sobriety as the foundation of any progress to promote and deepen the concepts of excellence through the choice of the most distinguished figures in universities, bodies, centers, research units, advisory offices and the outstanding sober journals. Selected professors of University of Baghdad were honored as well as a number of retired professors for their distinguished achievements in society to instill the spirit of innovation and competition among the teaching staff, researchers and students. The attendants praised the role of University of Baghdad and its rector Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein in supporting the academic energies for the sake of the scientific process in Iraq.<\/div>\n

University of Baghdad is about to entry Times Higher Education World University Rankings <\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

The ministry of higher education and scientific research announced that University of Baghdad will be included Times Higher Education World University Rankings for publishing more than 5000 sober research in discreet journals. Director General of department of research and development at the ministry, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Abdul Hamid confirmed that University of Baghdad would be listed in this global ranking early in 2018. It is worth mentioning that this university ranking an annual global ranking published by Times Higher Education Journal in United Kingdom that was founded in 2004 for publishing the names of the world’s best universities in the field of academic prestigious research in Asia, Latin America and BRICS and it is considered as one of the well-known global university rankings like QS.<\/div>\n

Union of Islamic Radio and television in the hospitality of the college of media<\/span><\/strong>

A Lebanese delegation from Union of Islamic Radio and television visited the college of media, University of Baghdad with the aim of bilateral cooperation and development of mechanisms of media training and rehabilitation. The delegation included Under-Secretary-General, Prof. Nasser Akhdar, director of the media training center in Beirut, Prof. Hussein Rizk, director of the office of Secretary-General, Prof. Abdul Majeed, representative of the union, Prof. Adnan al-Arabi for exchanging viewpoints towards joint cooperation between the two parties and to form a plan to develop the skills of college professors and students through establishment of such training courses. Dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Hashim Hassan al-Tamimi confirmed that it has been agreed to establish a mechanism in this regard which is scheduled to start in October in coincidence with the beginning of the new academic year.<\/div>\n

College of physical education for women hosts the Swedish Sports Organization<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

College of physical education and sports science for women at University of Baghdad hosted the Swedish Sports Organization for the second time to set up an international course on (fitness, weight loss, Gym management and health centers) that lasted for two days with the participation of more than 30 participants. Associate Dean for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Bushra Kazim Abdul Rida confirmed the role of the college to seek cooperation with this significant organization to establish such active courses at the academic and practical levels. Secretary-General of the Swedish organization Dr. Saad Munem al-Shekhaly praised the role played by the deanship in this regard to support sports in Iraq as well as to build bridges of communication between the two sides to lift the ban on Iraqi sports stadiums.<\/p>\n

In the presence of captain of dentists in Iraq, Prof. Dr. Fakhry al-Fatlawi, dean of the college of dentistry at University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Hussein Faisal al-Hwezi, Prof. Dr. Jamal Nuri, head of department of oral diagnosis and a number of professors at the college, the scientific advisory committee of the ministry of health underwent its meeting on Tuesday, 29\/8\/2017, under the chairmanship of the dean of the college. The meeting dealt with matters concerning examination of dentists and physicians at the ministry of Health to grant them specialty titles after completing their diploma and MA degrees in various specialties.<\/div>\n

Prof. Nabil Hashim al-Araji, head of supervisory and scientific evaluation department at the ministry of higher education and scientific research visited the faculty of dentistry, University of Baghdad on Tuesday, 22\/8\/2017 where he was received and welcomed by Prof. Dr. Hussein Faisal al-Hwezi, dean of the college.  Prof. Nabil Hashim al-Araji kept abreast with the college curriculum, central and competitive exams (E-exams). The dean of the college provided an overview of the steps taken to improve the scientific reality towards international accreditation through the participation of professors in regional and global conferences and symposia as well as publishing research and patents in the world’s most discreet journals. He talked also about the high spirit and sense of responsibility among students who undergo voluntary initiatives in college clinics under supervision their professors.<\/div>\n
