The council of the University of Baghdad held its 14th<\/sup> session under the chairmanship of the rector Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, with the membership of his assistant for administrative affairs and in the presence of all its members and deans of colleges in order to discuss a number of issues related to e-learning application, the first semester exams for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as other scientific, administrative and service issues. The session began with a speech by Dr. Munir al-Saadi who confirmed the need to pay attention to e-exams and to communicate with students intensively in this regard, taking into account the nature and quality of exam questions for postgraduate studies in line with the name of our prestigious university and the composition of its students who are a model to be followed by other Iraqi and Arab universities.<\/p>\n

Then the rector stated that the ministry of higher education and scientific research has directed all postgraduate students to publish research in Scopus database from now on, at least two research papers for master’s students and three researches for doctoral students. Then the members exchanged opinions about the Scopus recent issue announcing that the University of Baghdad has published 14,600 scientific research papers with a significant increase of more than (40%) compared to the previous issue which reflects a remarkable improvement in the university’s ranking at the local, Arab and international levels.<\/p>\n

In their deliberations, the members discussed a number of topics related to the approval of the scientific promotion of 15 faculty members, as well as some recommendations on school holidays, the approval of new curricula for postgraduate students at the colleges of medicine, nursing and the education for humanities (Ibn Rushd). Also they examined a proposal to change the official working hours of the university\u2019s faculties to avoid human momentum inside the university and to eliminate traffic jams in general, where they agreed to start the official working hours at 9:30 a.m. for the faculties that have only morning studies and at 8:30 p.m. for those that have both morning and evening studies, however, Thursday is considered a holiday and to resume study on Saturday at the colleges of science, engineering and agriculture.<\/p>\n
