The psychological & educational guidance unit at the college of education for women has organized recently a workshop on “The risks of drug abuse and anabolic steroids” to introduce a number of drugs usually taken by athletes and their risks to the human body in the long run. First the lecturers addressed the causes of this phenomenon in general such as the weak personal religious deterrence or accompanying the bad people, the desire to imitate others in their actions, staying away from home, wealth, worries & social problems, staying up all night to study, parental preoccupation and violence against children.<\/p>\n

Then the participants discussed the procedures that can be carried out for the prevention of substance abuse, such as self-care and work to improve one’s status, strengthening marriage ties and family relationships, having alternative recreational activities (going to sports clubs, reading or others), raising awareness in the community about the economic and social dangers of this dangerous pathological behavior, improving the school environment and enacting strict legislation pertaining to drug trade.<\/p>\n
