{"id":21364,"date":"2019-12-11T11:15:30","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T08:15:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=21364"},"modified":"2019-12-11T11:16:13","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T08:16:13","slug":"effect-of-the-chemical-mutagenesis-on-isolates-of-micro-green-algae-for-enhancement-the-production-of-biomass-and-some-cellular-components-as-feedstock-for-biofuel-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=21364","title":{"rendered":"Effect of the chemical mutagenesis on isolates of micro-green algae for enhancement the production of biomass and some cellular components as feedstock for biofuel production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Inventors: Dr.\u00a0Ibrahim Jabir Abd, Lecturer\u00a0Ali Muayyad Najim, Dr.\u00a0Rasha Kareem Muhammed\/Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Baghdad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Mutant microalgae<em>Nanochloropsis<\/em> sp. and <em>Chlorella<\/em> sp. byethyle methane sulphonate(EMS)included in this study exhibited a high potential for energetic lipid storage as well as high growth rates comparing to the un mutants (standard),The biomass growth of <em>Chlorella<\/em> was higher and in a more pronounced pattern after the mutation compared with<em>Nanochloropsis<\/em>.The results showed a significant increase in the biomass of <em>Chlorella<\/em> and about three folds higher than that ofunmutant alga. The biomass of the <em>Nanochloropsis<\/em>showed an increase of about twice as high as that of unmutant alga.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Therefore, considered promising candidates for biofuel production. In addition to the exponentially increase in biomass of the algae after mutation carbohydrates, proteins and fatty acids remarkably increased after these strains were mutated by ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS), while total lipids decreased. Five fatty acids were selected to assess effect of the mutation, which revealed that concentrations of all the fatty acids multiplied about 48, 16, 14, 7 and 6 fold ofLenolenic, Palmitic, Oleic, Stearic and Linoleic acids respectively in <em>Nanochloropsis<\/em>, while slightly changes occurred in the concentrations of<em> Chlorella<\/em> sp. fatty acids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inventors: Dr.\u00a0Ibrahim Jabir Abd, Lecturer\u00a0Ali Muayyad Najim, Dr.\u00a0Rasha Kareem Muhammed\/Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Baghdad Abstract Mutant &#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-21364","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-Patents"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
