This new procedure that adopted by us in this patent can summarized as we take out the newly hatched chicks from the hatcher that specialized to ostrich chicks and available at the Reserve of ostrich as they been hold with careful and place the ostrich chick at the lap of the person who do sexing process and the position of the chick is upside down. And then a mild pressure been exerted on the vent of chick with strong carefulness to avoid any damage and hemorrhage to this part and then may be this make health problems to the newly hatched chick that is difficult to overtaking in the future. When the pressure process complete we can see fleshy appendix that bring out from the vent of chick which been like a papillae. According to the experience that gained by research team in sexing large number of ostrich chicks it was noticed that this papillae is somewhat curved and relatively long in male chicks and short and relatively straight in female chicks. In the second step and to make confirmation of the accuracy of this new technique a certain number of ostrich chicks were monitored until the sexual maturity of these birds. However, another confirmation of the accuracy of this new technique was made by using genetic engineering and molecular biology techniques that used to sexing fowl chicks in general and ostrich chick in particular. For this purpose the blood samples was collected from certain of ostrich chicks that newly hatched and then the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) at the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Bio-Technology \/ University of Baghdad. R<span style=\"text-align: left\">esults revealed that the new technique is very active in determining the sex of ostrich chicks as indicated by 100 % correspondence of these results with the results of monitoring the chicks until sexual maturity as the males can be distinguished very easy from the females according the external appearance of birds and also by the results of PCR technique.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: left\">According these results we can concluded that this new technique used for sexing ostrich chicks was very accurate in determining the sex of newly hatched ostrich chicks and consequently this procedure can be used by the breeder of ostrich after they receive short and concentrated courses under the supervision of the research team whereas this process has great economic important for ostrich breeder as this new technique is relatively easy and not expensive as it not need to special laboratories or instrument, equipments and kits to perform this new technique. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New technique for sexing one day old ostrich chicks Prof. Hazem Jabbar Shah Ali al-Daraji\/Department of livestock\/Faculty of agriculture\/University of &#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1193","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-Patents"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
