Head of the house of representatives congratulates the Iraqi woman in her international day and promises of new legislation in a great celebration organized by the university of Baghdad on this occasion

  Colleges of education for women and science for women at the university of Baghdad organized a great celebration of the international women’s day in a big official and academic presence. Head of house of representatives, Dr. Salim al-Jabouri, in a speech during his first visit to the college of education for women to mark international women’s day stated that the parliament looks forward to the enactment of legislation expanding the ability of Iraqi women as an opportunity to progress, adding that Iraqi women exerted significant efforts and the time has come now to end their suffering, also he asserted the importance of solidarity and repudiation that harm our stability such as sectarian prejudices. Al-jubouri said, “we are waiting laws by the government or the presidency or even suggestions of civil society organizations to support the legislative package to line up on the agenda for approval and enactment and this is an obligation we must support and we will be the first advocate for its realization”. Reporter of the university media said that Al-jubouri congratulated in his speech the Iraqi woman in her day wishing her in future years better and broader conditions to achieve all her aspirations in a safe and stable blossomed life, hoping to reverse all causes of delay and inconvenience concerning her progress. As well as, he said, “we aspire to universities that give unique education for women in all areas, since there is no difference between men and women and it is time to start a new phase in Iraq to put women into account to promote women’s creativity and professional side in all aspects of culture and thought to help men in construction, development and progress”. He lamented the old years that grieved the hearts of women in the bleak conditions faced by Iraq in the 1990s during dictatorship, poverty, fear and bitterness and what the new Iraqi women face as a result of blind terrorism that left them bereaved or widowed and left their sons as orphans living in the worst . human living conditions in the world according to the global reports by international organizations and the accredited studies that documented violence experienced by them. On his part, the president of Baghdad university, professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein spoke about the great role played by Iraqi women today that shape the image of our society’s development, stressing that attendance, academic excellence and knowledge are the greatest response to the onslaught facing Iraq today by blind terrorism that wants to return the country to the era of backwardness and ignorance when it ruins monuments and Iraqi museums, giving an impression of brutality and inhuman barbarity. Subsequently, the speech of the deaneries of the faculties of education and science for women was delivered by assistant professor Dr. Shoroq Kazim Salman that emphasized that Iraqi woman will remain in the side of man to be a radiant beacon that lights up the path towards construction and development. The ceremony witnessed delivering poems on this occasion, tv film, giving prizes to distinguished female professors and students. Head of the house of representatives, accompanied by the president of the university of Baghdad opened a commemorative exhibition of handicrafts presenting various products of students such as clothing and handcrafts. It is worth mentioned that the international women’s day on 8th of March celebrating the social, political and economic achievements of women following the convention of the first conference of the world democratic women’s union held in Paris in 1945
