Master thesis at Baghdad university addresses the problems of controlling greenhouse temperatures to reduce energy consumption

A master thesis was discussed at the department of computer engineering at the college of engineering, university of Baghdad, that deals with designing a new system to control the application of a glass house sensor network to control its temperature and humidity. The thesis is entitled “design and simulation of fuzzy control system of multi-choice for application of a glass house sensor network” submitted by the researcher (Qais Jabr Sabr al-Jawari) that suggest such a fuzzy control system in line with introducing a control system of its own. This design includes two parts: the first one is designing fuzzy controls while the second is to create a wireless network and build algorithms to manage, organize, and exchange information between various parts of the network, since it consists of three controls, a fuzzy control system for heat, a fuzzy control system for humidity and the third for ventilation. The importance of this study comes to reduce the cost of using air conditioners to control the temperature and humidity of the glass house depending on the external environment. For the purpose of implementing a wireless network connection and management of algorithms, the study used the supplement program that works within mass design environment, while the computer is a binary processor. The study concluded that there is a need to get a robust, scalable and multiple choices system for control, with a percentage of error ranged from (0, 0.1)% since this system of multiple ranges of greenhouses has its own pattern of operation and degrees to control temperature and humidity by the use of the technology of multiple hops.
