Seminar at the Natural History Center at the University of Baghdad about ways to deal with electronic terrorism

  The continuing education unit has organized in the Museum of Natural History and Research Center at the University of Baghdad, seminar entitled “electronic terrorism and ways to encounter it,” as part of the scientific and cultural activities that the center is keen to set up. The aim of the seminar is to identify the websites of the electronic terrorism and reducing them , and the exchange of modern information and experiences among the workers and researchers to reach the optimal ways of electronic work, and the need to re-examine ways of prevention and control, and stand on the electronic developments and variables, and to evaluate and strengthen the roles of the family and education in disclosing electronic terrorism, and the ways to protect the young from it .

  Prof. Dr. Khalil Al-Zarkani has delivered a lecture where he discussed the problems that the user facing with the social networking sites (Facebook, and twitter ), and has focused on patriotism and the role of family in order to confront them and give awareness of their dangers. The researcher has defined the electronic terrorism which employs the use of digital technologies to intimidate others into submission, or to attack the information systems on the background of different motives. He stressed also the need for research in modern mobilazation methods against electronic terrorism which uses the World Wide Web (Internet) as an essential means to spreading, referring to the size of the benefit from the modern information technologies, especially the electronic sites and social networks, depending on the ease of applications of technology for the network, the prevalence of its use in all the world, and ease of communication by them with huge number of recipients, and its cheap cost.

  Dr. Khalil Al-Zarkani has discussed the ways to combat these dangerous sites and the need to change the password regularly so as to prevent intrusion (hacker), especially for social networking sites, and to use them for illegal purposes. At the end of the seminar the extensive questions and discussions has been allowed where specialists in electronic sites and computer networks have participated and enriched the theme of the seminar in a way that will contribute to awareness and education in this vital and important subject. The director of the center has attended the seminar, assistant professor Dr. Amer Muta’b and Dr. Hana’ Hani al-Saffar who is in charge of Continuing Education, and a number of researchers and lecturers.
