President of the university of Baghdad intensifies his visits to inspect the conduct of examinations and gives his directives to graduate students


President of the university of Baghdad, prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein continues his inspection tours to follow up the final exams in a number of colleges at Jadiriya complex. The president of university kept a breast of the examinations in the halls of the college of education for women, accompanied by dean of the college, assistant professor Dr. Shurouq Kadhim Salman, listening to the students’ suggestions that would contribute in providing the appropriate psychological atmosphere during the exams, praising the provision of cold water, air conditioners, and sufficient number of instructors who observe the exams in a way that enhance the scientific achievement of students. He also visited the headquarters of examinations’ committees to recognize the mechanism of distribution of exam copybooks and how to correct them by professors, praising the outstanding role played by the deanery and its interaction with professors and stressing on the need that the questions should be clear, focused and from the curriculum. Then the president of the university of Baghdad visited the college of science for women, inquiring about the nature of the questions and listening to the remarks made by students and this point should be asserted by heads of department. The visit included the president of university’s attendance in one of the scientific discussions (seminar) of a ph.d student at the department of biology, college of science, where he called the university faculty to pay attention to the English language to be able to communicate information in scientific conferences held outside of Iraq to represent their university in the best way and the necessity of attending such seminars by the graduate students for it is an occasion for acquiring the scientific material presented by the researcher, keeping pace with all new and exchange of questions. The president of the university promised to continue building of the college of science for women as it is scheduled under the sponsorship of the minister of higher education and scientific research, prof. Ali Mohammed Hussein al-Adeeb. Dr. Alaa stated that extending the period of study for graduate students isn’t a good thing and this matter should be taken seriously by heads of departments and supervisors of graduate students, asking the student to end his thesis during the prescribed time, as well as insisting on the need to equip and develop all laboratories with modern equipment according to their importance, making use of financial allocations on multiple stages. He added that the students and professors of the university of Baghdad possess enormous scientific capabilities and are gaining the appreciation of the international universities everywhere and that the students of the second stage at the college of engineering won the creativity award for attaining the first rank at the Australian university that are twinning with the university of Baghdad, in addition to the university’s gaining the first rank in the Science Day by scoring eighty points according to the standards set by the ministry of higher education and scientific research. The president of the university discussed with the deanery of the college the ways to improve the performance of professors to upgrade the scientific achievement and enhance the practical field side for students that would contribute in preparation of efficient students who serve Iraq and their people.
