Al-Kindy college of medicine at the university of Baghdad discusses the education based on solving health problems


Al-Kindy college of medicine at the university of Baghdad organized a workshop for professors within the activities of curriculum committee in cooperation with the committee of continuing education at the college. The workshop included a discussion of the education that is based on solving health problems and for the purpose of achieving its goals, the participants were divided into two educational groups where the participating professors played the role of students to solve hypothetical problems, of them twelve professors were named for the second phase in the next academic year to apply this type of education and other activities aimed at the development of academic performance and keep abreast of scientific development in health management to achieve all the goals set by the university for developing the educational performance. This workshop seeks to transform from the traditional concept of teacher, student and curriculum to a new concept based on partnership between all parties of the education process to be as dialogue between them so that the teacher would be a facilitator and the student would be a partner in such a process. The groups were trained on solving problems through five main steps, i.e, problem presentation, discussion to generate ideas, identifying the problem , analyzing it, doing homework, reading, doing researches, preparation and then returning back to discuss the problem. The workshop was attended by dean of the college, Dr. Sadik al-Mukhtar, his assistants and a large number of professors and researchers at the college.
