The national center of cancer researches at the university of Baghdad holds a video seminar with the university of Oxford
The national center of cancer research at the university of Baghdad held a video seminar via video conferencing technology with the adviser of the prime minister from the university of Oxford, prof. David Kerr at the conference hall in the center. This seminar comes in implementation of the recommendations made by a national workshop to build capacities of the ethics of medical researches organized by the center in collaboration with the department of research and development at the ministry of higher education and scientific research in 2013 with the ratification of his excellency Mr. Ali Mohammed Hussein al-Adeeb to communicate with prominent researchers from global universities and research centers to exchange of experiences, transfer of knowledge and coordination to conduct joint researches to protect from cancer. During the seminar, experts from the university of Oxford were invited for giving lectures and supervision on training the Iraqi doctors in various specializations related to diagnosis and treatment of cancer, providing opportunities for medical specialists to visit British universities and research centers. Also discussing the possibility of twinning the pioneering national center for cancer research and the college of medicine at the university of Baghdad with the research center of the university of Oxford, keeping abreast of the global standards for establishing educational hospitals of standard specifications. At the end of this meeting, Dr. Nada al-Alwan, director of the national center for cancer research and those attendants expressed their appreciation for the cooperation of prof. Kerr, stressing on the need to continue such scientific medical meetings at the international level. The meeting witnessed the participation of the college of medicine, university of Baghdad represented by prof. Azam Kanbar Agha, head of surgery department, prof. Dr. Adnan al-Jubouri, former head of esoteric department, assistant prof. Dr. Faris al-Lami, head of community medicine department, Dr. Munawar al-Naqash, director of tumors’ educational hospital and the participation of the ministry of health represented by Dr. Abdul Amir al-Mukhtar from the office of the minister of health, Dr. Tahsin al-Rubaie, director of Al-Amal hospital for nuclear radiation, as well as the research staff at the center.
