The central library at the university of Baghdad held two courses on free access to information and Arabic indexing
The general secretariat of the central library at the university of Baghdad gave a lecture on the (free access to information and writing bibliographic references programs) to make use of the internet and investing it in a useful way in the scientific and academic researches. The assistant teacher, Aida Mustafa Salman, general secretary of the central library gave a lecture in the presence of the students of the college of engineering at the university of Baghdad on the most important electronic free programs that assist in writing the bibliographic references and clarifying the concept of arithmetic computing. The lecture included explaining ( Mandli ) program which is one of the most important free software for storing references, researches and articles that would be considered as a private library that facilitate the user’s access to information without wasting time and with the least effort. On the other hand, the general secretariat of the central library gave another lecture for the members of the university libraries at the university of Baghdad entitled (the unified Arabic index and the possibility of taking advantage of its services) with the participation of head of the supply unit, Salwa Jaafar who explained that the unified Arabic indexing represents a cooperative framework that aims to enhance the work of the Arab libraries and seeking to achieve what the Arab researcher aspires to through free access of all users, responding to various questions made by catalogers, organizing training courses to help use such an index in an optimal way and raising the level of performance of these libraries. The lecturer said that this index insures providing bibliographical records compatible with the rules of Anglo-American indexing in an electronic environment that provides records indexed according to the latest rules and techniques towards reducing human effort and saving financial and human resources.
