The college of engineering discusses the latest developments in the field of robots

The department of electrical engineering at the college of engineering, university of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled (applications of robots in engineering) in the presence of head of the department, Dr. Thiaa Hassan and a number of instructors. Dr Ibrahim Qasim gave a lecture included a presentation of a T.V clip of the latest robots manufactured by international companies specialized in this field, such as (ASIMO) and (Honda). The researcher pointed out that the robot is a machine programmed and directed by man via computer that can perform dangerous acts such as searching for mines or disposal of radioactive waste. The word (robot) appeared first in 1920 in a play by a Czech playwright (Karel Czapek) entitled (rossumovi univerzální roboti) that symbolizes the hard work since it is derived from the word “Robota” which means forced or compulsory labor and this spread widely in science books and movies.  Programming the robot is made by the operator through a control panel to direct its successive movements ranging between 60-100 times per second, while programming without running Android is intended to develop or create a program for moving the robot without the use of the same previous program but by using an external computer programmed with data of the coordinates and the variables required for its movement.
