Department of computer at the college of education for women discusses femtotecholology and its informational applications

Department of computer at the college of education for women at the university of Baghdad held its fourth scientific symposium entitled “Informatics and femtotechnology” to keep up with modern developments in the field of computer and information technology which is the language of this new era. The aim of the symposium which was attended by dean, assistant prof. Dr. Surouq Kazem Salman, was to define this technology, its impact and benefits in life in scientific and medical fields including several themes in which Dr. Afaf Badie, Dr. Ayad Abdul Qahar, Dr. Buthaina Farhan, prof. Amer Abdul Majeed, prof. Dr. Samir Khider gave lectures dealt with femtotechnology in informatics, education, medicine and communications. Femto is part of a billion million fraction of a second used for the first time to monitor the movement of the particles as a unit of time, shedding laser ray on the interactions and taking photos with precise cameras, sending flashes of light in a time of a few tens of femto. The laser device send two pulses, the first one is strong hitting molecules causing a state of high energy and the second pulse is weak (probe pulse) of a suitable wavelength to discover the molecule or its modified form. The first pulse is a signal of the start of interaction, while the second pulse scanning the interaction in spectroscopy. The interval between these pulses witnessing the speed of transformation of molecule during this transitional period. The images are like fingerprints seen on the screen and the sequence of pulses is very slow. This technology is used as an alternative to Wi-Fi in mobile phones and LASIK to correct vision deficiencies. The symposium was attended by a number of researchers and instructors of computer in colleges and institutes, students and those concerned with the scientific and technological and informational fields.
