An instructor from Al – Khwarizmi college of engineering gets Ph.D. from the university of Plymouth, U.K. in biomedical engineering

Proceeding from the keenness of the ministry of higher education and scientific research to enhance the scientific level according to the academic standards and rehabilitation within the program of scholarships adopted by the ministry, Ali Hussein Ali Khaddouri, an instructor in the department of biomedical engineering got a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from the university of Plymouth, United Kingdom for study entitled ( an investigation of electromyograhic (EMG) control of dextrous hand prostheses for trans radial amputees ) supervised by assistant prof. Dr. Gidwa Pigman from that university. The main aim of the research is to improve the performance of hand prostheses since those available do not meet the needs of those concerned and they cant control their fingers. Multiple muscles’ signals of seven people were recorded then artificial intelligence algorithms were chosen that resulted in high levels of precision with a few number of muscle signals to save costs. This thesis serves a large segment of people with special needs and disabilities, especially hand prostheses’ amputees.
