The college of arts arranges an international workshop on the Iraqi – Brazilian dialogue

In the framework of the openness of the faculty of arts at the university of Baghdad to the international academic institutions, the department of history at the faculty of arts arranged an international workshop on (the Iraqi – Brazilian dialogue) in cooperation with the college of basic education in Mustansiriya university and the center and the library of South America for Islamic studies (Biblia Asia). From the Brazilian side, Prof. Paulo Farah, head of the center and a professor at the university of San Paulo, participated in the workshop when visiting Iraq recently. He is a prominent specialist in Arabic who has many important international contributions. Prof. Dr. Rahim al-Saadi, head of Mustansiriya university, Prof. Dr. Jamil Musa al-Najjar, dean of the college of basic education, Prof. Dr. Inam al-Salman, head of the department of history in the college of arts, Dr. Imad al-Abadi, head of the department of history at the college of basic education and other professors specialized in history. The workshop addressed during three sessions the prospects of academic and intellectual cooperation by studying the Islamic manuscripts made ​​by Prof. Paulo Farah entitled “amusement of a strange of all that is amazing” by Sheikh Abdul Rahman al-Baghdadi, who visited Brazil in the second half of the 19th century who lived there for three years, leaving important information about the Islamic – Brazilian cultural communication. The researchers discussed over the seven sessions of the three papers dealt with this important academic effort and the possibility of academic communication between Iraq and Brazil. This activity is a continuation of the previous international efforts made by the college and its ancient departments.
