With the auspices of the president of the university of Baghdad, D. Alaa Abdul-Hussein Abdul-Rasul, al- Khwarizmi college of engineering in collaboration with the faculty of science at the university of Baghdad held its scientific conference entitled (international scientific conference of physics and engineering) at al-Khwarizmi central hall in the presence of a large number of academic personalities. The conference was attended by the assistant of the president of the university of Baghdad for administrative affairs, assistant prof. Dr. Hussein Yusuf as the representative of the president of the university, assistant of the president of Nahrain university for administrative affairs, assistant prof. D. Basim Ibrahim Al-Abdali, the dean of al-Khwarizmi college of engineering, assistant prof. D. Osama Fadhil Abdul Latif, the dean of the faculty of sciences, prof. D. Salih Mahdi Ali, members of the faculties in al-Khwarizmi college of engineering and sciences, many researchers, professors, experts and specialists from various scientific Iraqi universities, state institutions and and experts from the ministry of industry and minerals.
The conference was opened by a verse from the Quran, playing the national anthem, followed by a statement by the assistant of the president of university dealing with the interest of the university of Baghdad with such scientific qualitative meetings to enhance the scientific movement and keep up with the developed world. He asserted that this meeting is a starting point for scientific meetings and conferences interested in physics and engineering. Then statements were delivered by prof. D. Salih Mahdi Ali, dean of the faculty of sciences, prof. D. Raad Abdul Karim Radhi, chairman of the scientific committee of the conference who stressed on the importance of providing modern scientific ideas and researches that are contributing in rebuilding of Iraq, developing and strengthening the role of exchange of scientific and academic expertise for the advancement of the scientific reality. The conference included presenting (60) researches in various engineering and scientific specialties. At the conclusion of the conference, the attendees thanked the deanery of the faculty of al-Khwarizmi college of engineering for its contribution in supporting and developing the state institutions and opening channels of communication with the educational institutions for the purpose of learning of the experiences and enhancing the knowledge and investment of scientific researches that contribute in the process of economic and industrial development in our beloved Iraq. The conference ended with important recommendations to be put before the eyes of the officials who are responsible of the scientific and industrial establishments to benefit and making use of them.
