General secretariat of the central library at the university of Baghdad holds a course on electronic supply in digital libraries

The general secretariat of the central library at the university of Baghdad held a training course on electronic supply entitled (Building digital libraries system by using “Genesis” system) with the participation of the ministry of science and technology, the faculty of information and the general secretariat of the central library. The session was opened on its first day with a lecture by Dr. Iman Mahdi Saleh who explained the functions and work of the supply unit that help to receive the sources of information of all kinds: books, theses, audio-visual materials from different parts of the world and in different languages. The instructor Aida Mustafa Salman, general secretary of the central library delivered a lecture in which she defined  the electronic supply as a precise selection process of information sources of interest to readers in the light of a specific financial budget and building library collections (books, periodicals, publications, microfilms) via searching different sites on the internet that are updated continuously such as the site called (Acqweb) through subscription in the internet and the provision of a number of computer hardware and terminal servers in line with the catalogs of the national library on internet. The session ended with the participants expressing their views on its outstanding curriculum, its accuracy, the initiatives and ideas for development and the importance of holding new courses according to the needs of the users.
