Two seminars about Japanese culture and Gilgamesh at the college of arts – the university of Baghdad

The department of history at the college of arts at the university of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Iraqi (Jay) association for graduates from Japanese universities held two seminars, the first one entitled (Gilgamesh and Kojiki in the perspective of history and culture) by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Wahed Mahmoud, an instructor at the department. A delegation from the Japanese institution ( JICA ) headed by Mr. Shuhei Hara, high representative of (JICA). Also  discussions and presentations about the epic of Gilgamesh and Kojiki were held dealing their impact on the  global culture, with historical and analytical comparisons between them. The second seminar entitled (the spirit of Samurai in the contemporary Japanese culture) delivered by prof. Inaam Mahdi Salman and assistant prof. Alaa Fadhil Ahmed, dealing with the impact of the Samurai culture in contemporary Japanese life and the influence of the spirit of Japan on the Japanese society. The researchers focused on the cultural and intellectual dimensions of the Samurai. It is worth to note that the seminars were attended by a number of instructors, students and those interested in the Iraqi and Japanese culture.
