Department of Environmental Engineering holds a course of air pollution

 Under the auspices of Mr. Dean of the College of Engineering Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qassim doss the Department of Environmental Engineering -college of Engineering – University of Baghdad, held a course about air pollution to the employees of the Ministry of Environment and its offices available in various governorates of the country for a period of two days at the Hall of Mahdi Hantosh in the college. The course included at the first day two lectures :the first was an introduction to air pollution and the first lecture discussed the types and components of air pollution problems, resources and effects of air pollutants ,smog, environmental legislation of the ambient air and emissions, pollution standards and standard specifications for the air.

 The second lecture was entitled Meteorological and its relationship to the spread of air pollutants and included the following topics: Change in temperature with height in the atmosphere, tranquility phenomenon, the behaviour of the emitted cloud from the high source topographic effect and the effect of aerodynamics on the spread of contaminants, and the reaction of the wind .

 The second day there were two lectures as well, the first entitled ” dispersion of air pollutants and included the following topics: Chaos’s Model for the spread of air pollutants, emissions from point source at ground level and a high level, the maximum concentration on the surface of the earth from a high source , Model of spread of the pollutants of the linear sources , models of the height of the cloud, and softwares of air pollution.

 In the second lecture, films about the problems of air pollution were presented in addition to a field visit to the monitoring station of ambient air quality in the college of Engineering. Ms. Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering Dr. Yasmin Abdel Aziz Mustafa has delivered the lectures.
