Ph.D thesis at Ibn al-Haytham faculty of education on the adsorption of some chlorophenol compounds

Faculty of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haytham) at University of Baghdad witnessed the discussion of a doctoral thesis entitled “the study of adsorption of some chlorophenol compounds, dyes, pesticides and heavy ions on some absorbed surfaces” submitted by the researcher (Shaimaa Khalaf Ghati) at the department of chemistry. This study shed light on one of the important chemistry surface applications in the field of pollution treatment. It studied the effect of some chemical contaminants (chlorophenol, dyes, pesticides and heavy ions) on the surfaces of bauxite, processed bauxite and barley husks. Ultraviolet Spectroscopy and atomic absorption techniques were used to know desorption quantities at different conditions of temperature, weight of adsorbent material, ionic strength, acid function, ionic strength of absorption solution and the surface area of the adsorbent material. Bauxite surface was treated and all surfaces were diagnosed before and after treatment with the use of (XRD), (FTIR), (AFM) and (SEM).
