Risk and ecosystem in a scientific symposium

  Department of geography at the faculty of education (Ibn Rushd) held a scientific symposium entitled “Risk of solid waste residues and their possible effects on community health and ecosystem in Iraqi cities” delivered by Prof. Ibrahim Mahdi Salman from the department of biology at the faculty of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haytham), Baghdad University. The preparatory committee of the symposium consisted of (Prof. Dr. Salah Dawood Salman, assistant Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali Najim, teacher Dr. Manaf Mohamad Zarzor, teacher Dr. Hanan Noman Wasim). The symposium was attended by a number of professors and students at the department and it focused on the problems facing the global environment in general and Iraqi environment in particular in line of the ecosystems and the balance among the inputs of the ecosystem such as gases, water, minerals, energy, waste and others resulting from metabolism and how to find appropriate ways for maintaining that balance in face of the incorrect human practices that would increase or lead to pollution and thereby causing a breach in the general balance of ecosystem affecting directly affects human health and life on this planet.
