Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering participated in the 1st international scientific conference under the slogan (technical researches as a cornerstone in rebuilding of Iraq) held under the auspices of the minister of higher education and scientific research (Dr. Hussain Al-Shahristani) at the Southern Technical University, Basra that witnessed the attendance of numerous scientific and academic figures in Iraqi technical colleges and institutes and other scientific figures from universities of regional countries, especially U.A.E. Associate dean for scientific affairs at the college, assistant Prof. Dr. Alaa Karim Mohammed participated in this regard with his paper entitled “vital removal of heavy metals from wastewater”. The researches referred to the importance of holding such specialized conferences to improve the infrastructure, staff as well as taking into account the clean environment when implementing projects to develop oil and gas fields and taking benefit from minerals extracted from sewage water in industrial enterprises in order to attain a healthy environment.
