On the occasion of selection of Baghdad as one of the cities producing culture, the faculty of fine arts holds an exhibition of calligraphy and ornamentation

  The department of Arabic calligraphy and ornamentation at the faculty of fine arts held an exhibition of calligraphy and ornamentation in collaboration with artistic and sports activities department at Baghdad University on the occasion of selecting Baghdad as one of the cities that produce culture, at the hall of art activities department at the university. The exhibition was opened by the university’s president, prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool who delivered a speech explaining his admiration for artistic creations, calling for expanding the size of the gallery exhibits that includes rare antiques that reflect the possibilities and capabilities of the Iraqi mind, also he expressed his thanks and praise for the show and the need for displaying such creative works in other forums. The opening ceremony was opened by the scientific assistant of university’s president, assistant prof. Dr. Osama Abdul Latif and dean of faculty of fine arts, prof. Dr. Qasim Munis. They added that the exhibition of calligraphy and ornamentation represents the products made by the students at the department as their graduation projects and it is an opportunity for the students and professors to enjoy colors, fonts and shapes. The Iraqi global artist, Dr. Abdul Reza Bahia, the project’s supervisor and professor thinks that Arabic calligraphy and ornamentation is a constant spring full of colors and stripes since it includes various humanity and scientific departments, having cultural and media platforms besides treasures of creative artists, stating that this show has been well received by those concerned and also won the admiration of many media outlets covering this artistic event.
