The opening of department of Japanese language at the faculty of arts

  At the faculty of arts, university of Baghdad, a department of Japanese language for the students of the English department in the presence of the associates dean for scientific affairs and student registration. The opening was launched with a speech by prof. Dr. Falah Hassan al-Asadi, president of al-Mustansiriyah University who welcomed teaching this language at the college. Then prof. Dr. Salah al-jabri, dean of the faculty of arts delivered a speech that confirmed the interest in Japanese studies at the department of history and how to teach this language to develop scientific cooperation between Iraq and Japan by promoting graduate and preliminary studies to benefit from the lessons of the Japanese experience in the field of history, philosophy and thought for the Iraqi society. Then the Japanese ambassador in Iraq “Fumio Iwai” praised in his speech the experience of Japanese historical studies and the continued efforts to cooperate with the university of Baghdad to develop and increase the interest of the Japanese experience, especially in the department of history where prof. Dr. Osama al-Duri, head of department stated in his speech that language and civilization can develop and promote cooperation and joint relations between the two countries since the Japanese experience has aroused world attention in the field of scientific and cultural development. Assistant prof. Dr. Sundis Muhsin al-Ubaidi, head of English department said that the Japanese language is one of the living languages in the world and that more attention should be dedicated to while prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Wahid Mahmoud, director of Japanese historical studies program shed light on the development timeline of this program through more than ten years and what was achieved by the department of history during its march. Later, the delegation visited the Japanese language teaching room and Mr. Anmar Hassan gave a lecture on writing Japanese letters.
