Ph.D thesis discovers an innovative way to generate electricity by liquid pharmaceutical discharges

Ph.D thesis submitted by the researcher (Ali Awaid Habib) at the department of environmental engineering in the college of engineering, university of Baghdad entitled “treatment of liquid pharmaceutical discharges associated with electricity generation using bio-fuel cell” that discussed the use of a special fuel that generates electric power by liquid pharmaceutical discharges. This thesis is the first in using an innovative way to design six laboratory systems identical in design and create a bio-fuel cell. The study worked on the development of a mathematical model to estimate the efficiency of the system and through the results, the researcher found that there is a convergence between the results of mathematical model and the practical results indicating high match between theoretical and practical results of the bio and electro-chemical fuel system within the chosen conditions and limitations in this study. The researcher pumped the liquid industrial wastes emissioned from the ongoing pharmaceutical plants into the bio-fuel cells that contain oxygen. The results showed that these bio-fuel cells were activated through new and recycled carbons that resulted in the highest electrical energy generated from the cells mentioned above with the use of industrial waste water prepared in laboratory in the same chemical content of oxygen.
