President of Baghdad university visits the college of nursing and stresses on the need for attention to applied researches in hospitals
President of the university of Baghdad, professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool inspected the deanery of the college of nursing to keep abreast with the educational process at the college, its needs and ways to overcome the difficulties that hamper its success to be in line with its counterparts in the universities. Mr. president listened to a detailed explanation by the dean, Dr. Iqbal Ghanem Ali Mlaa about the college quest to be an advanced radiant center in the field of scientific progress in nursing, since it is directly related to health services provided to the community, and it is working to occupy a leading position among nursing colleges in international universities by providing better education and scientific research. The dean showed that one of the first tasks of the college is to prepare nursing staffs that have the best qualifications to work in the private and public sectors, as well as providing a comprehensive nursing care, especially in preventive and therapeutic rehabilitation for any individual, family and society, through academic programs that commensurate with the message the university of Baghdad and to prepare the graduates to take responsibility for building and developing the Iraqi society and contribute in its development. For his part, the president of the university called the college to continue to achieve its vision by developing the capacities its students to adopt incisive thinking and self-learning methods in order to solve or overcome problems, to create a leading figure among students who can take the appropriate decision and to develop their broad understanding of professional ethics and job description, analysis, and understanding of theories and principles of applied nursing sciences, as well as to direct students to initiate completion of their applied scientific researches. The visit also included a review of the college achievements in the current academic year, a tour throughout its scientific and administrative divisions accompanied by the dean and her administrative assistant, prof. Dr. Widad Kamel Mohammed. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein met, on the sidelines of this visit, heads of departments, professors and students of the primary and higher studies, praising their quest in education and referring to their role in the field of health and their distinguished service to humanity in future. At the end of the visit, the president of Baghdad university thanked the dean, instructors and personnel for their eagerness and motivation towards excellence, stressing on guiding students in different nursing practices.
