Inauguration of a new building for Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering at the university of Baghdad that matches world colleges

  A new building was inaugurated at Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering at the university of Baghdad which a typical one established by the local government of Baghdad under the supervision of the department of engineering affairs at the university. President of the university of Baghdad, professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein in a speech at the beginning of the ceremony thanked the governor of Baghdad and the council for their contribution in support of the university through the completion of strategic building projects within the budget of the regional development where he stressed on the importance of the role of the university and its scientific edifices to supplement the society with scientific competencies. The governor of Baghdad, Ali Mohsen al-Tamimi stated that sum of the budget of the next year is to be allocated to support the educational sector, saying: “today we are gathered to celebrate a new achievement of Baghdad local government to support education for the students in the capital”. The governor of Baghdad revealed that “this project includes (15) classrooms, (12) labs, (28) offices for instructors, (12) management offices and (6) health buildings and central air-conditioning system with a capacity of 400 tons”. Al-Tamimi stated “the provincial government takes care with the educational sector through allocating funds from the budget of the next year to support the educational reality of the universities by implementation of projects, academic buildings. The project was lagging far behind a bit, but efforts were intensified later as an extension of our belief of the role of science and scientists in building the homeland and the citizen”. Then the dean of Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering, assistant professor Dr. Mohammad Abid Attiyah al-Sarraj gave a speech expressing his thanks and gratitude to the governor of Baghdad, along with Baghdad provincial council chairman and members for their ongoing support of the academic institution and their role in the birth of a project supported by the ministry of higher education and scientific research in particular and Iraq in general. The ceremony was attended by members and advisers of the provincial council, assistant of president of the university for scientific affairs, assistant professor Dr. Osama Abdul Latif Fadel, dean of the college of engineering, professor Dr. Ahmad Abdel Saheb, director of public relations and information department, Dr. Ahmad Abdel-Aal, heads of departments, faculty members and students at Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering and a great gathering. This project costed seven billion and a half Iraqi dinars, constructed on land (4500 m) in two floors, (3600 m) halls and laboratories, as well as green spaces and hallways to provide the appropriate academic environment for students.
