University of Baghdad receives more congratulations and blessings on the occasion of gaining an advanced world ranking


University of Baghdad is receiving congratulations and blessings from various state ministries and institutions from the public and private sectors after gaining the best Iraqi university rank in the world Spanish “webometrics” ranking which is one of the largest rankings of international universities including Harvard, Oxford, Toronto and others. The director of information department, Dr. Kazem Omran said that “our university achieved the 41th rank among the best 50 Arab universities and this progress comes after adopting the measures to be in line with the development happening in the fields of science, research and websites”. For his part, the president of the university of Baghdad, professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein stated that the minister of higher education and scientific research, professor Ali Mohammad Hussein al-Adib had stressed that the global ratings of the university of Baghdad should be distinguished for its originality since it is one of the largest universities in the world for its scientific and humanistic specializations and its long history, so its ambition should not be limited in addition to its desire to develop yearly according to a parallel scientific approach. The university of Baghdad was founded in 1908 when establishing the first Iraqi college (college of law), high teachers house and the college of medicine which was founded in 1927 and then colleges of pharmacy, engineering and other colleges that were joined to one university in 1957  that is the university of Baghdad located in Jaderiya and designed by (Walter Gropius) in 1960s to build a campus for the colleges of engineering, science and arts. Now Baghdad university includes (24) scientific and humanistic colleges, four institutes for graduate studies and eight research centers, as well as other administrative divisions, so it is called the “mother university”.
