College of medicine completes its preparations for the reception of students of the scientific section according to the highest rates of the central admission

The deanery of the college of medicine at the university of Baghdad preparations to receive the graduates of junior high school from the scientific section exclusively for the central admission of the academic year 2014/2015, according to the instructions and regulations issued by the ministry of higher education and scientific research. The college of medicine is considered as one of the distinct medical colleges in Iraq, Arab homeland and the world for its scientific sobriety, its competent specialized instructors and its reputation and the reputation of its graduates who practice their medical duties in various hospitals inside and outside Iraq in the branches of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, community medicine, esoteric medicine, surgery and pediatrics. The college includes the unit for cancer research, the unity of medical education and the unity of continuing medical education, as well as other administrative units. The college of medicine is the mother of the faculties of medicine in Iraq that is working to maintain its advanced scientific position with their counterparts in the Arab world in the academic and research fields. It was founded in 1927 and it persistently follows a group of doctors and scholars returning from Istanbul, first and foremost, Sami Shawkat, Hashim al-Witri and Saeb Shawkat who are assisted by a group of British doctors led by Harry Sanderson who was the dean of the the faculty of medicine at the university of Baghdad. The college has since then is still going to evolve, especially in the last four years because of the great support given by the ministry of higher education and scientific research and the presidency of the university of Baghdad in their efforts to modernize its laboratories, its seminar halls, scientific curriculum, training of professors and openness to the community. The basic mission of the college of medicine is to prepare the students to practice medicine according to scientific world medical standards throughout their scientific lives. The college of medicine is working on securing an integrated health system in coordination and cooperation with the Iraqi ministry of health and the world health organization, and the completion of research programs on the problems of society and the needs of health to prepare doctors who are fluent in listening to the patient and understand his health problems by taking early clinical training during their university studies.
