College of engineering inaugurates an environmental laboratory and announces the arrival of global modern equipment

Dean of the college of engineering at the university of Baghdad, Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Sahib inaugurated a health engineering laboratory at the department of environmental engineering as part of its plan to open modern laboratories and developing the existed ones in order to enhance its scientific departments and keep pace with the global universities. During this visit, the dean kept abreast of the modern and sophisticated equipment that arrived in departments recently from the best global origins that are characterized with important applications. A specialized team of engineers and professors were trained to work on these devices and updating them such as (HPLC) of U.S. origin for analysis of organic materials dissolved in water of little concentrations, (ATOMIC ABSORBER) of Australian origin for measuring little concentrations of elements and minerals in water, (UV SPECTOPHOTOMETER) of U.S. origin for analysis of pollutants dissolved in water depending on visible wavelengths, (COD ANALYZER WITH INCUBATOR) of German origin for measuring organic materials in water that are unable to be analyzed biologically, (BOD ANALYZER WITH INCUBATER) of German origin for measuring all organic materials in water that can be analyzed biologically, (GC Device) as well as other important updated devices. Employees and researchers of the college were trained to enter a new phase of technological engineering coping to contribute in strengthening the process of higher education in the new Iraq. The new health engineering laboratory works on experiments on acidity and turbidity in drinking water and wastewater of high rates of ammonia and chlorine, the requirements of biological oxygen and chemical oxygen, dissolved and suspended materials, ion exchange, the ratio of absorption of carbon, so this laboratory will contribute in the development of research experiments and provide benefit to community.
