The first professor of our university in Iraq

He is one of the greatest scientists in Iraq and the Middle East. Today We receive a formal letter from the ministry and the university is grateful to one of our scientists as the best professor in Iraq Professor Abbas Hamid Sulaymon, Head of Environmental Engineering at the University of Baghdad, who forms the focus of pride to all Iraqis and Arabs.

Team of our website was quick to conduct an Interview in his modest office, consisting of a simple room of the Department of the Scientific Section, Faculty of Engineering, University of Baghdad Prof Sulaymon(PhD) completed his Bsc from the College of Technology / United Kingdom in 1967, and completed his PhD from the University of Aston, UK, 1972, and is now Professor and Head of Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Baghdad. Dr. Sulaymon has global partnerships with several significant major international institutions, where he is a member of associations, such as the Royal Society, UK, and he co-founded the National Academy of Iraqi science in 2003, he also contributed with the World Bank in Amman, Jordan through his “preventive policies to the Iraqi ministries,” 2004. He also delivered a lecture at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom visiting scholar in 2004, and contributed to the “Network on Environmental Economics in the Middle East” in Trieste, Italy, in 2004, and has an effective contribution to “training course for Iraqi scientists,” Milan, Italy, in 2006, and the participation of research inherent in the “Symposium with advanced scientific technology “in Amman, Jordan, as well as in the” purification of clean water in Iraq and environmental remediation “in 2006.

When we met Dr. Abbas Sulaymon we did not expect to find such a smile and simplicity but that the Arab media in general, do not pay attention to the scientists as much interest in politics or sport and art, which is why we stress in our future plan of the site that we develop a special page, called scholars of our university. He has a good reputation among European universities and the U.S. than in Arab universities, by virtue of neglect or exclusion and marginalization that loomed facilities, science and education, following the political conflicts and wars, siege and occupation, and thank God the University was able again to recover through its scientists and researchers to occupy prominent position among universities in the world, and on asking Dr. Sulaymon about the reputation of the University of Baghdad in Europe or more specifically in Britain, he informed us that the university enjoys an excellent reputation, and many of the graduates of the University of Baghdad are professors senior in London or in British universities, stressing that many graduates of the university of Baghdad have senior positions in British or American universities. and perhaps Professor Adel Abdul Sharef is the best evidence of this in the University of Surrey in Britain, adds Dr. Sulaymon that 90% of research at the University of Baghdad, published internationally and in superior journals , , such as environmental engineering in our college publishes research in the most popular journals in the world and most influential, . He mentions that one of the editors of a journal had asked me to write a book on the subject of electrochemistry, as well as is the case with the other professors in the college or university, Dr. Abbas Hamid Sulaymon supervised about 30 doctoral dissertations and 71 Theses.

And received a patent for coating asphalt , and published his research science for more than 40 journals specialized in science . He is the first teacher in the Ministry of Higher Education and Research Science for 2011.He is also the first teacher at Baghdad University, and holds more than 80 books of thanks and appreciation from the university presidents and ministers of education and institutions highly specialized scientific. His contribution is significant in this aspect and has many more posts in the associations, scientific institutions and journals specialized, but he had set up more, and scientific bodies and councils, specialized scientific rare, and sought to achieve a large amount of mega projects for Iraq at regional levels, and support many of the industrial and engineering in Iraq through his experience unlimited in engineering, chemistry and the environment, which refers to the genius and the achievements of Dr. Abbas Hamid Sulaymon long to folders for his research and his studies.
