With the participation of international, Arab and Iraqi companies, the starting of the 3rd annual forum at the university of Baghdad


The president of the university of Baghdad, prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein opened the third annual forum held by the center for development and continuing education with the participation of several state ministries, universities and companies specialized in e-learning under the slogan “e-learning to ensure the quality of university education”. The president of the university in a speech at the opening of the forum stated that “the third season of this festival is an application of modern techniques and adopting diversification in selecting them to be introduced to education as a necessity for developing and supporting curriculum, keep up with scientific development in the field of e-learning, striving to overcome difficulties and providing solutions through researches and workshops in which experiments will be presented”. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein added that “the experiences that will be presented in this forum will be transformed from theorization stage to application stage in service of the scientific research and development of higher education in Iraq. The assistant of president of university for scientific affairs, prof. Dr. Alaa Karim Mohammed delivered a speech in which he stressed on liberation from traditionalism in education and curriculum towards developing the student’s skills and abilities, building his character so that he will to be able to interact with age variables so he will be able to create a new life keeping pace with new developments witnessed today. The scientific assistant called for need for integration of technology with teaching and learning which has become a vital requirement for the development of educational infrastructure resulting in a qualitative leap to reformation of curriculum and enhancing the level of educational output with the least effort and the best quality. The forum included discussing researches, studies, workshops and conferences via ( video conferencing ) with Canadian, Japanese and Australian universities with the participation of the department of research and development at the ministry of higher education and scientific research, the college of mass communication, the college of education for women, al-Khwarizmi college of engineering, the center of educational and psychological researches, college of education – Ibn Rushd, center for psychological researches and the college of engineering. The forum witnessed opening exhibitions of means of e-learning by the president of the university of Baghdad with the participation of a number of Arab, international and Iraqi companies where he called for taking in consideration these presentations offered by the companies to the university of Baghdad to contribute in development of e-learning, especially in smart boards, examination copybooks, documents and certificates through new modern technology that the university is keeping pace with. The goal of the forum is to search for the best ways and means to provide an interactive learning environment to attract the attention of students and encourage them to exchange views, experiences and to improve teaching and learning, planning educational programs depending on the technologies that fulfill the needs of the community, conceiving the recent developments and trends in e-learning, promotion of basic academic and communication skills through exchange of knowledge. The themes of the forum included social networks and its impact on e-learning, practical and specialized applications in education, technological developments, the use of scientific search engines in websites, especially in the educational process, development of university websites and applications of virtual reality in education.
