College of administration and economics discusses future goals for strategic planning


The college of administration and economics at the university of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium in collaboration with the general secretariat of the council of ministers with the participation of higher diploma students in strategic planning to discuss how they set future goals of their study that would contribute in the development of administrative aspects in state institutions.  This symposium comes in a series of seminars held by the college to listen to the students’ opinions and suggestions. Dr. Obaid Mahal Fraih, deputy secretary – general of the secretariat of the supreme council of ministers gave a lecture, in the presence of prof. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Mahmoud Fatah, dean of the college and Dr. Jafar Baqir al-Dujaili, assistant of dean for administrative and financial affairs and students of higher diploma in strategic planning where he called for activation of new mechanisms to develop the scientific march, as well as listening to the students’ problems and finding solutions to them. The lecturer asserted that the purpose of this symposium and the studies submitted in is to develop administrative skills in state departments, preparation of leaders who are able to understand the rapid changes, crisis management, finding solutions, future planning, creating a clear vision for developing them since the aim of the secretariat of the supreme council of ministers is to put the right man in the right place. Then the dean of the college,in an intervention, praised the unlimited support given by the secretariat of supreme council of ministers and the college of administration and economics to the students of the higher diploma, the results of which would be the standard for their success after graduation which is the foundation for shaping their opinions about their managers. Interventions led Dr. Mahmoud Abdul-Jabbar to direct the students to submit a research proposal within ten days on the scientific advice designed for students, then he listened to the professors’ opinions and suggestions. At the end of the symposium, the dean called for activating the scientific aspect in line with the theoretical aspect, equivalence of higher diploma with master degree, benefiting from the professors outside of the college to explain the state budget and how to develop and agree upon, the necessity of participation in conferences, selecting some theses to be a model for the coming sessions, increasing the number of scholarship seats allocated to ministries, communication with the general secretariat for organizing such meetings with the students at other provinces.
