University of Baghdad launches its 29th annual festival of cinema and television arts with participation of 138 art works


Department of cinema and television arts at the college of fine arts, university of Baghdad, launched the events of its twenty – ninth annual festival sponsored by the minister of higher education and scientific research, prof. Ali Mohammed Hussein al-Adeeb. The president of Baghdad university, prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein delivered a speech in which he stressed on the need that science and art should be side by side in college, praising the scientific and academic role played by the faculty of fine arts which is considered as the mother college of arts in Iraq for its artistic and cultural legacy that contributed in the graduation of hundreds of innovated figures like those who have passed away or others who direct art movement in Iraq at present. The creative product of the college is evident in light of film projects made by the students who participated in previous festivals. The dean of the college, prof. Dr. Qasim Munis delivered a speech in which he thanked the presidency of the university of Baghdad for its support to the students’ graduation projects and various art festivals to encourage the artistic and cultural movement in the country so as to reflect the bright picture of Iraq today with the virtue of its experiences and capabilities for the purpose of building and reconstruction of our country. This annual festival witnesses the participation of (138) national and comic films of psychological and social dimensions all of which were produced by the students who made use of potential of their department including montage while others relied entirely on their own abilities.
