The college of arts participates in an international conference in Beirut on the Iraqi sociologist Dr. Ali al-Wardi

The college of arts at the university of Baghdad participated in a conference held at the American university of Beirut in celebration of the tercentenary of the prominent Iraqi sociologist, prof. Dr. Ali al-Wardi with a delegation headed by dean of the college, prof. Dr. Faisal Ghazi Majhool and membership of Dr. Lahai Abdul Hussein al-Daami, Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Rasul, Dr. Murtadha Hassan al-Naqib, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Wahed Mahmoud. The conference lasted for two days, with participation of twenty-one participants from Iraq, Lebanon, Europe and U.S, dealing with various aspects of al-Wardi’ life, his achievements in the fields of nomadic and civilization problems, sociology, philosophy, psychology and history.  The family of the late Ali al-Wardi participated also, represented by his son Jafar al-Wardi and hid daughter Sinai al-Wardi. Ali Hussein Mohsen Abdul Jalil al-Wardi (1913 – 13 July 1995) was a model of the free academic Iraqi who worked for his society and its development and the title of his family refereed to his grandfather who was working in the industry of distillation of roses’ water. He was born in Baghdad in al-Kadhimiyah holy city in 1913, occupied with reading books and magazines, after that he became a teacher, sent in a scholarship to the American university in Beirut where he got the bachelor, studied in the university of Texas for m.a degree in 1948 and ph.d in 1950. He wrote (18) books of which five books before 1958 and hundreds of researches with a critical, literary and enlightened style in addition to his social theory about the nature of the Iraqi society.
