The college of sciences holds a scientific symposium entitled “Earthquakes:  causes and effects”

Under the auspices of the president of the university of Baghdad,  prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Abdul Rasul,  the department of geology at the college of sciences held a scientific symposium entitled ” Earthquakes:  causes and effects”. The symposium  which was held at Al-Idrisi hall was attended by the assistant of the president of university for scientific affairs,  assistant professor Dr. Alaa Mohammed Karim, director of scientific affairs, Dr. Ahmed Wahid, the director of the department of information and public relations, Dr. Kazem Imran and a group of professors and students at the college  of sciences. The symposium included several lectures, the first one was given by  assistant professor Dr. Rashid al-Obeidi entitled (Seismic and tectonic model for the fore land area of ​​the zagros thrust belt, NE Iraq). The second lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Nawal Abdul Ridha entitled (earthquakes in Iraq) and the third lecture was given by the geophysicist,  Hassanein Jassim Muhammad, who is in charge of seismic analyses, entitled (seismic monitoring network in Iraq). While the fourth lecture was delivered by professor Dr Mohamed Rashid entitled (the relationship between earthquakes and the earth’s atmosphere).
