President of University of Baghdad receives a delegation from Zarqa University


President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool received a delegation from Zarqa University, Jordan headed by the Chairman of the Board of directors of Zarqa Company Mahmoud Abu Shairaa, the Rector Prof. Dr. Basam al-Hilo and a number of professors in the presence of Rector Associate for scientific affairs Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif. During the meeting, many issues concerning educational and academic aspects were dealt with, especially the scientific role that the two universities could play in order to advance their status. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Rasool gave a detailed explanation about our university, its faculties, institutes, scientific and research centers and its role and profound impact despite the conditions that had passed in the country which affected all institutions, nonetheless University of Baghdad was able to stand firmly,  adding that the university has numerous memorandums of understanding with American and European universities, as well as signing of a number of twinning agreements with a number of discreet universities. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shairaa, for his part expressed his great pleasure in visiting University of Baghdad so the visiting delegation submitted a draft convention to the Rector to promote scientific and research cooperation between the two universities. At the end of the visit, the two rectors exchanged the shields of their universities as a gesture of cooperation.


College of arts participates in the 3rd periodic meeting of Waladu Project at the University of Munich


The college of arts at University of Baghdad participated in the 3rd periodic meeting of Waladu Project sponsored by the University of Munich, a partner of the European Union project. The delegation was headed by the Associate Rector for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadil Abdul Latif accompanied by the dean of the college of arts Prof. Dr. Salah Flaifl Aid al-Jaberi, head of department of antiquities Prof. Dr. Nawala Ahmed al-Mitwali and the administrative coordinator of the delegation Assist. Prof. Dr. Leith Majeed Hussein. The delegation discussed during its meetings the most effective ways to benefit from Waladu Project to develop the teaching staff, students of elementary and higher studies and updating curricula in Iraqi universities. The participating delegation visited several German research institutions, universities and met the director of East Department at the German Antiquities Institute and Prof. Roger Matthew from University of Reading in Britain along with some archaeologists from University of Innsbruck, Austria. This meeting comes in conjunction with the 11th  International Conference on Archaeology in the Near East that witnessed a global presence to address matters related to archaeology and cultural heritage in Near East during prehistoric eras.


President of University of Baghdad receives the Italian ambassador in Iraq


President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool received at his office the Italian ambassador in Baghdad, Mr.  Silvatura Pasquino and his accompanying delegation. During their meeting, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool, Rector of University of Baghdad expressed his wishes to open up prospects for cooperation with the Italian side in various scientific fields and for his part the Italian ambassador stated his readiness to support the educational process at our university, stressing the need to expand the cultural and scientific relations between the two sides. It is worth mentioned that this meeting was attended by the Rector Associate for scientific affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif and dean of the college of languages, Assist. Prof. Dr. May Istaivan Rizqallah, as well as the director of the department of missions and cultural relations, Assist. Prof. Dr. Iyad Kazim Zghair.
