Presidency of University of Baghdad receives the ambassador of the European Union Mission
President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool received the ambassador of the European Union Mission in Iraq, His Excellency Ramon Blecua and the accompanying delegation in the presence of Rector Associate for scientific affairs Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif and a number of department directors. The Rector expressed his desire to develop continuous and fruitful cooperation with the European Union at the level of the projects offered by Erasmus Foundation, stressing that over the last two years, University of Baghdad has inaugurated four new projects in cooperation with a number of European and Middle Eastern universities. His Excellency Mr. Blecua, for his part presented his vision on the nature of future cooperation between the two sides through academic exchange of expertise, particularly in the cultural and scientific fields. Also the Rector and the visiting delegation inaugurated (OPATEL) project at Ibn Sina e-Learning Center which is one of Erasmus training projects funded by the European Union for the purpose of training and supporting the educational management system as well as equipping the center with all needed for e-learning. At the end of the meeting, President of University of Baghdad Dr. All Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool confirmed our university’s endeavors in this regard.
President of University of Baghdad discusses with the delegation of the German Antiquities Institute the Iraqi-German center structure
President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool received the director of the East Department at the German Antiquities Institute, Dr. Dr. Margaret Van S. to discuss matters related to the Iraqi-German Center for Antiquities and Assyrians inaugurated last year at the department of archaeology at the college of arts. The two sides addressed the details in this regard such as the centers’ structure and administration, including the Iraqi and German professors working there and stating that this pioneer academic research center would be a promising breakthrough for scientific cooperation between Iraq and Germany in the fields of antiquities and historical excavation. It is worth mentioning that this meeting was attended by the dean of the faculty of arts, Prof. Dr. Salah Al-Jabiri, director of the Mission and Cultural Relations Department at University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Iyad Kazim, as well as the representative of the department of archaeology at the college.
President of University of Baghdad participates in the 1st forum of the Federation of Presidents of Russian and Arab Universities
President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool participated in the 1st forum of the Federation of Russian and Arab universities in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities and the Council of Russian University presidents hosted by the University of Arts, Science and Technology in Lebanon for the period (18-21) February, 2018. The Rector stated that the number of Iraqi students in Russian universities is larger than any other Arab ones in various scientific disciplines in preliminary and higher studies who they are educated in most of the Russian discreet universities which are recognized by the Iraqi ministry of higher education and scientific research.
University of Baghdad hosts the 14th international conference on the role of philosophical ideas in the Islamic cultural dialogue
His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq Al-Issa received the delegation of the international researchers participating in the 14th International Conference sponsored by the House of Wisdom on the role of the philosophical ideas in the Islamic cultural dialogue at University of Baghdad. His Excellency Al-Issa expressed during the meeting attended by the president of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool and president of Nahrain University as well as several deputies and university professors his pleasure with the specialized cultural fields addressed by the practitioners of philosophy and the establishment of channels for joint scientific dialogue that brings Islamic and Arab countries together to the table of science and knowledge, asserting that Iraq has not lost its knowledge and cultural identity since its history is so rich in philosophical and civilizational exploration. It is worth mentioned that the participating scholars were impressed by the initiatives of Iraqi institutions, including the ministry of higher education in providing climates of the critical culture and linking of areas of convergence between the countries of the Islamic world, At the same time, they praised the victories of the Iraqi people against the forces of extremism and terrorism and their resolve to make a peace culture.
