The department of architecture at the faculty of engineering won three awards of the Global Excellence competition from the British Coventry University which is aimed at promoting the profession of architecture in Iraq at the academic and professional levels, sponsored by Iraqi elite architects like the late Zaha Hadid and others. It is worth mentioned that the department of architecture won the award of excellence for the best architectural college in 2017 where the head of department, Assis. Prof. Dr. Inaam Amin al-Bazaz won the award of excellence for best supervision and the engineer Nizar Razak graduated from the department in (2016-2017) won the same award for the best architectural graduation project. The engineer Hala Issa also received the fifth award for the best architectural graduation project.
