President of University of Baghdad signs a memorandum of understanding with the German Archaeological Institute


President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein, headed the delegation of our university during his recent visit to the Archaeological Institute, Germany. This visit came as a result of a formal invitation from the German side where the rector of University of Baghdad signed several memoranda of understanding with the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) in Berlin directed by Prof. Dr. Fredrick Fils. The terms of agreement included approval of the parties to establish the Iraqi-German College as the nucleus of the Iraqi-German University as well as discussing the possibility of establishing the Iraqi-German College of Technology and Applied Sciences. The signing of theses decrees was attended by a constellation of professors and researchers of the two countries, including His Excellency the Iraqi Ambassador in Berlin Prof. Thiaa Hadi Mahmmoud al-Dabbas, Dr. Salah Aid Flaifel, dean of the faculty of arts, director of department of cultural relations at University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Iyad Kazim Zigair as well as director of department of Middle East, Prof. Dr. Ricardo Eichmann, Dr. Margaret Van S., scientific director of the German Archaeological Institute and several German professors and experts in the field of antiquities.
