The center for urban and regional planning for graduate studies at the University of Baghdad held its second virtual workshop on (Flexible cities to face crises: Corona epidemic) delivered by Prof. Dr. Jamal Baqir Mutlaq within a series of specialized workshops in cooperation with UN organizations on planning and management of cities under disasters.

The paper addressed the concept of a flexible city as demonstrating the ability to survive and prosper in the face of shocks and crises which requires ensuring multiple aspects, including social resilience which is the ability of the social system to adapt and to be committed to the highest degree of restraint to meet challenges. A strong and cohesive society helps its individuals to overcome difficulties depending on awareness and collective effort to face what happens in future with confidence in coordination with governmental and non-governmental organizations. It is worth mentioning that 648 participants from Iraq, USA, Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, India, Russia, Turkey, France, Romania and the Netherlands have attended this event.
