The University of Baghdad represented by the college of engineering has participated recently in a virtual workshop on “the transition towards safe and smart cities” sponsored by Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies.
Head of the department of architecture contributed in the drafting and presentation of the final recommendations of the workshop which can be classified into two groups: the first ones dealt with the most important concepts, approaches and applications contributing to the success of such and the preparation of effective means in collecting, analyzing, presenting and managing digital data in cities.
Other recommendations focused on the local fields, mainly to institutions related to urban planning in local and federal governments in Iraq in order to include the smart cities project in the public sector investment plans. It should be noted that this event witnessed an active participation of a large number of Arab and foreign academics in addition to companies with experience and high technological capability in this vital field.
