The rector of the University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Munir Hameed al-Saadi received in his office the chairman of the education committee in the Iraqi parliament, Prof. Dr. Muqdam al-Jumaily and his deputy, Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Massoudi who extended their congratulations to al-Saadi for his new position, praising his administration and scientific skills.

For his part, the university rector welcomed his guests, appreciating their role in supporting the educational process in Iraq while giving a detailed presentation about the university’s potential, the number of its colleges, institutes and centers, its Arab and international position in world ranking, stressed that the development of this largest and oldest university requires the government support to update curricula, laboratories and other requirements that would develop the potential of staff and students.

Dr. Al-Saadi talked about the efforts exerted by teaching faculty in e-learning, presenting the university’s vision on the financial investment of the university’s revenues scientifically, especially after the entry of 5 scientific journals issued by in Scopus, in addition to online citations and participation in international conferences.

For his part, Dr. Muqdam Al-Jumaily stressed on the importance of the university’s independence and its exclusion from all political influences, in the time in which the House of Representatives seeks to pass the latest amendment to the retirement law that will have a positive impact on all university professors as well as the approval of State budget including allocating sufficient funds for higher education.

It is noteworthy that this meeting was attended by associate rectors for scientific and administrative affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Kareem Al-Samarrai and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Waheed, as well as deans of faculties of medicine, pharmacy, engineering, Al-Khwarizmi, science, the center for urban & regional planning.
